I don't know about everyone view on this conflict but this is my opinion. Cambodia is a smaller country, less developed, and less military capability.

Also this country just get out of civil wars 50 years ago.

I don't think Cambodia has any reason to start this war.

My understanding is that the current governments of both Cambodia and Thailand are losing support because of economic and other problems and are using this conflict to distract from their domestic issues and shore up support.
