Hi HN!

I'm Marcelo, founder of Kontrata, a mobile app that helps people in Venezuela find and hire local service providers, from electricians and plumbers to personal trainers, designers, and more.

In Venezuela, the informal economy dominates, and most transactions happen outside of traditional platforms. We built Kontrata to make it easier for people to connect with trusted professionals, even with slow internet and low-end phones.

We used React Native for the frontend and Laravel for the backend. Key challenges included:

- Dealing with unstable internet.

- Creating a lightweight UI that works on old devices.

- Supporting payments in both USD and local Bolívares.

The app is live and has over 1,000 downloads so far. We're looking to improve based on real usage and feedback. If you’ve built for underserved regions or have thoughts on product-market fit in frontier markets, I’d love to hear your experience.

Thanks for reading, and happy to answer any questions!
