I guess it depends on each person's values, situation, tolerance level, and ability to delay gratification.
America is great if you are well-off/rich 1%, but terrible for everyone else.
Some European countries are better for everyone else but not so good for the very rich, relatively.
YMMV, as they say. There are no utopias anywhere and cannot be. In my view, we should be aiming for peaceful, liberalized societies with maximum journalistic freedom, social safety nets, high social trust communities where neighbors know each other, and minimal deprivation where struggling people are given the tools to help improve their condition rather than being fined, humiliated, arrested, and/or deported without due process.
