I've lost a ton of weight (no pun intended) by being an active member of r/loseit. Nothing else. That community helped me achieve my goals. It is just an amazing place.

I find this doubtful.


What is it that you found doubtful? Or did you not understand the message behind the sentence? It meant that I did not use any gimmicks or pills or surgery. I relied (still do) on the community as a tool to achieve my fitness goals. Of course, I still run about 20 miles per week, and bicycle an equal amount. I control what I eat by counting calories and I also calculate how much to eat in order to keep a deficit of 3500 calories per month (one pound of fat per month basically).


You made the statement as if to bolster the subreddit as "revolutionary". It's effective, but there's nothing medically or socially revolutionary about fitness support groups. You followed healthy patterns and share your successes with others.


You don't get it. :)
