These stories only ever come down to one thing: Cold.

Does being under "deep sea" pressure also mean greater quantities of oxygen in the blood?


All things being equal it does, although the mix that divers breathe is tuned to account for higher partial pressures to avoid Oxygen toxicity. Even then I believe the pressure still leads to higher saturation of all gasses, oxygen included.
