It's unfortunate as I like Apple TV+'s quality over quantity.
I hit up Netflix and find a great film, and all the "related" are pure garbage.

$1 billion a year is a little over 1% of Apple’s profit. Which would make sense if it is a part of an ecosystem play. But I don’t see how it is.
It doesn’t sell any more AppleTVs or iOS devices. There are AppleTV apps for every media connected device available.
The crazy conspiracy theory and somewhat tongue and cheek that Apple punditry puts out is that it lets Cook say “look at all of the great services that we put out” and bring up AppleTV+ when everyone knows that most of the service revenue comes from the Google deal ($20B+ a year) and in app purchases of loot boxes and coins for pay to win games.
The latter came out in the Epic Trial that 90% of App Store revenue comes from games.
