I don't see why this would be considered cringe. The author created a fun project, shared it with us as open-source and is simply asking for voluntary donations, only if you're willing to contribute. No one is forcing you to donate.
If an aspiring developer cannot create fun projects and look for some support within the hacker community, what are we all even doing here?
BTW What's up with people turning coaches and offering everyone to schedule a video call with them? I encounter this even in circle of my LinkedIn contacts. Is there some new pill on the market they all coincidentally take?
With a user name like yours, I’d expect you to understand FOMO of missing out on new trends or pushing new trends while posting as a thought leader. And of course it’s noticeable on LinkedIn. It’s nothing but a cesspool of those exact types
"On-Topic: Anything that good hackers would find interesting. That includes more than hacking and startups. If you had to reduce it to a sentence, the answer might be: anything that gratifies one's intellectual curiosity."
Love it. We just need to add pipes/bars | between | things | because we’ve done so much. Don’t forget “ex-stupid company, ex-failed company” and etc. for added cringe!
I've been tinkering and practising my coding skills (for want of a better word) for a while and decided to release a fun little project I've been working on - Bio Cringe.
Ever read a 'hacktivist growth mindset guru' bio on LinkedIn that made your soul leave your body? How about a '24/7 experimental thought guru' Twitter bio that made you want to smash your face into your keyboard? Bio Cringe has it all - and based on the level of obnoxiousness you choose it will generate a bio for you so lacking in self-awareness and reality that Elon Musk would blush.
Purely for fun, purely satirical, but I hope you guys get a laugh out of it.
- I didn’t notice that much difference between the levels of obnoxiousness. Essentially the higher levels seemed to be more confident but contain the same ideas.
- All of them are very short, which means there’s also not a lot of variety.
- it seems like the two topics in the generation prompt are “future riches” and “currently broke”. A greater diversity would be lovely. Spiritual BS, dating gurus, crypto, impossible startup ideas… these are a few obnoxious things I’d like to see.
I would add that most of these feel like a setup and a punchline, but the two parts are styled the same and show up immediately
if I were building this I might experiment with showing them separately so you can fully appreciate the recognizable first bit
"Life coach :yoga:"
...
"if my own counts"
with the punchline following. There's a bit of a pause that's missing in the delivery, though I'm not sure how to convey that pause in such a simple format
