One interesting thing about technology, design and UX is that it seems like we're probably nearing the end of the a big explosion in materials science over the past 100 years. Like things are about as smooth and round and shiny and colorful as can be. I guess we could make a transition from like touch screen to holograms or something? But kinda makes me wonder if we'll start circling back to older design ideas.
I wonder if in some sense the idea of inevitable progress that we saw in the 20th and early 21st century had to do with being at an inflection point with technology, and though progress will still happen, you won't see the sharp cultural impacts you saw in these past two centuries.
