Nonspecific covid policies getting support from "the mainstream" is proof that HN will support authoritarianism?

Huh.

Yes. That was the most clear cut case of authoritarianism I've ever seen in the post Berlin wall era.

It's not hard to grasp if you read a constitution and see how right to assemble, right to work, right to bodily autonomy, right to speak, all got attacked in different degrees in different countries across the world with apparent widespread support. Of course, censorship of any alternative played a part and non compliance by people who pretended to comply happened all the time but by and large the authoritarian tune was sung.

Now, you can call me one of the typical labels that were in vogue back then but, it doesn't really change facts.

If we had done as well as the places that were careful there would be about 1 million more Americans now than there actually are. But most of them were costs to society, not producers, and thus killing them was a win for the Republicans.

(Although I don't think we had a chance of doing as well because it got here earlier.)

You can repeat that narrative all you want but it was always a bad one and became really stale, really fast.

Observing regions, countries and comparing when they didn't perform the hygiene theater really showed your measures had little effect (as expected). The fudging of numbers and bad faith also made things hard to argue.

The fact that you're all about republicans wanted to murder Americans shows how deranged you are. You must have been very happy with Cuomo's Emmy or Grammy or whatever it was, while he actually got a beautiful number of deaths that he absolutely "didn't want or cause".

It's time you accept what was obvious all along. The elephant repellent in Texas wasn't repelling elephants.

Forget countries, just look at states. There's a *big* correlation between voting Republican and Covid death rates. (And that's after correcting for demographics, the raw numbers are even worse.)

As for Republicans wanting them dead: do the words "We want them infected" not ring a bell? In case you've forgotten: https://www.politico.com/news/2020/12/16/trump-appointee-dem...

Either that was based on a delusion (how do you propose to infect only the low-risk individuals?) or the true objective was to kill off a lot of the weak. And that wasn't a one-off by a nut, there was a substantial contingent of conservatives who wanted that approach. Simply ignoring it would have been callous, but wanting them infected is intent.

Uh what?

Brief shelter in place orders followed by limitations on* occupancy of commercial spaces is proof that HN will embrace deanonymizing the internet?

You are also gonna have to help me out what I am supposed to call you.
