I’m surprised they found enough people for a jury at all. The entire state has a population equivalent to the city of San Francisco and the only time I did jury duty in SF, so many candidates were eliminated due to potential conflicts that the judge had to call in more people from the rest of the jury district (Oakland and San Jose).
The process seemed to be to find people that could decide a case fairly / had an open mind, not people with no connections to anything.
In North Dakota it’s going to be hard to find anyone who doesn’t know someone involved in oil, and if you did that doesn’t mean they’re a good juror…
