That is a good thing, if we want AI companies to be competitive enough.

If you add regulations, people will use other AI companies from countries without them. The only result of that would be losing the AI race.

You can see this at Huggingface top models, fine-tuned models are way more popular than official ones.

And this is also good considering most companies (even China) offer their models free to download and use locally. Democratizing AI is the good approach here.

What would this declaration mean for free and open source models?

For example Deepseek uses the MIT License.
