The Pinochet regime was recognized as as-free-market-as-it-can-be by the ones of Thatcher, Friedman and the Chicago Boys, and at the same time, it was a bloodthirsty dictatorship that persecuted people who did not align with the party, organising murders and tortures, to the point of having a squad nick-named the "caravan of death".
