Removebg.sh: API for high quality background removal and mask creation (removebg.sh)

I'm sorry, but what's up with those kind of projects popping up with HN? They all seem to do (mostly) basic things but have really expensive pricing plans. A recent example is just https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42497679, this submission is similar too.

Apples and oranges. Very different.

Background removal is expensive if you want quality and precision. The only option today is remove.bg and it’s two times more expensive than this product

I launched this product for my own use, it offers quality of remove.bg with half pricing, and it has free tier. If you’d like to criticize, at least compare with a similar product. Otherwise you’re just trolling.

My other product use this API already for both removal & mask creation (https://x.com/azerkoculu/status/1874021629799416002)

For anyone who wants more reasonable pricing & great results, this is really the best option.

If you want completely free, you can look into client side libraries. Their precision is terrible though. You need a model + GPU infra for proper background removal. And that has cost.

I'm not interested in background removal myself, but I'm pretty sure fal.ai or replicate have good models that would do the same task for 10-100x cheaper (with cost per image). And I don't know why you think this is trolling - I'm genuinely confused with people posting extremely shallow projects.

What’s shallow here is your perception and ignorance.

And your willingness to troll someone’s work by throwing words like “I’m pretty sure” when you’re a clueless troll.

You can process an 8K image with high precision with removebg.sh, before your Replicate box cold boots.

I’m a huge fan of Fal and use it primarily for mitte.ai but rembg is terrible.

You can’t build a smooth product ux with both platforms. Both quality and speed are major issues.

Add that, removebg.sh supports mask creation, blurring, fg/bg reversal, which are extremely useful for doing inpainting with Flux etc.

Hope you find yourself more important things to do in 2025 than trolling. I suggest you learn basic math so you can at least compare pricing next time.

Because of the ai premium

Trolling is free GPU is not

Try building the same product and please show us the results without using an AI model + expensive GPU infra
