It's interesting that there seems to have been no additions to the standard language since 1997? SQL, C++ standards are updated twice a decade, but no interest in adding to SML?
IIRC Robin Milner took the decision to pretty much ban any further work after the '97 revision being called "Standard" ML. The work can be done (and some has) but it has to be called something else.
