"Tesla said that the issue would be addressed with an over-the-air software update, a solution the company frequently uses to resolve vehicle problems."
I lose respect for news organizations when they don't distinguish this in the title.
"Telsa Recalls 700k vehicles via software update..."
Sort of like over-reporting EV fires, and not reporting ICE fires ever.
Yea I agree. Overly sensational and misleading. May as well start telling people iPhones and android phones have millions of recalls every year
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I imagine this is only a problem if one of your tires is low. It seems to reset itself in between trips and then takes a while to come back on. It's obviously not the TPMS Sensor in the wheel since it will be an over-the-air update. Pre 2007, vehicles didn't even require it.
The sensors also use CR2032 disposable Lithium batteries, like those used on PC motherboards for the CMOS settings, but it's molded inside the plastic of the sensor so when the battery runs low the entire sensor has to be replaced. And your tire place forgets even though you specifically asked them to put it on the work order, and you need to go another full tire lifespan with TPMS lights on.
Using my SDR I pick up tyre pressure readings around me at 433mhz, the remote control frequency. Running that constantly off a button cell is impressive.
