Show HN: Debate Platform Where Only One Person Can Speak at a Time (youtube.com)

I love watching online debates, but get frustrated when one person gets talked over and doesn't get an equal time to speak.

I built a platform where where each debate participant gets an equal opportunity to express their thoughts and ideas without being talked over.

Here's how it works: - Each speaker has ten minutes talk time. - Only one person can speak at a time; the other person is muted. - Either person can take or pass control of the microphone at any point. - Whenever a person have control of the microphone their talk time will count down.

I might be interested in helping implement a full-blown platform based on Robert's Rules of Order. Reach out if that's on your roadmap. Intriguing concept.

it would be cool to turn it into a social platform. where you debate things with random people.

It would also be cool to have buttons that people could tag the session with "rhetorical tricks" ad hominin attacks etc. also, allow people to add fact checks and counter fact checks afterwards.

you could follow people and earn reputation the debates could get scored.

Thanks for the comment. Yes that does sound like fun. I am thinking about opening up the platform so that anyone can host their own debates. But tagging the debates with logical fallacies and fact checks etc. would add a extra dimension!
