Decline and Fall of Cambridge (spectator.co.uk)

"Disability at Cambridge has increased more than fivefold, and is now declared by some 6,000 students (roughly one in four)"

That really surprised me. At my university a long time ago they accommodated disabled people mentally and physically very well but as the exceptions. The numbers were much lower than today. Amongst students I do remember conversations that one should game the system and claim one had dyslexia to get extra time during an exam (no one actually did it though).

Not saying that today's students are gaming the system. It appears that the system has changed the nature of the game. There are no exceptions to be accommodated. Many would see this as a good thing in some areas.

I would want to see a source for this figure, to establish it as true before discussing whether it is justified. The Spectator has acquired a bit of a reputation for right-wing polemics.
