I'm surprised how little attention this is getting. I can't think of a technical reason to ban a whole country vs just the abusive ASNs. Considering the lack of response, I would assume this is an automated mistake or internal bad actors
The Israel-block seems to be hardcoded into their source code on October 13th 2023 according to an anonymous employee.
I think if it was something decided by management it would have been one of the various ops teams doing it and not something you will see hardcoded into source code.
