Is it ok to use a Python hashlib.scrypt derived hex key with GPG s2k-mode 0

Instead of using a SHA-512 hash of the password, I was thinking of deriving a key using scrypt and then passing it on to the gpg binary as an argument using subprocess. Is this a good idea?
