Man charged for selling forged license keys for network switches (bleepingcomputer.com)

So this guy sold customers license keys to access their own devices and is now charged under "access device fraud"? This would all seem rather silly if it wasn't for the sad fact that this guy is gonna spend the rest of his life in jail for giving customers access to their own devices.

These charges seem bogus to me, license key is not "access device" because it is not used to control access to any account. DMCA anti-circumvention clause would be more applicable here.

The article doesn't really go into much detail.

Were they fraudulently trying to pass off the generated license keys as genuine or are they literally being prosecuted for selling what is essentially "illegal numbers"?

Likely selling the whole kit. Dude is 75. Anything he gets will be a life sentence.

As the article doesn’t give any further information this would be a better link.
