The adult industry has been at the forefront of driving technical innovation on the internet (and previously in home media) since the beginning. It's huge business with huge data and bandwidth requirements. The teledildonics (love that word) patent expiring a few years ago is just going to push this further into new areas. Haptics and VR will eventual be driven forward by the adult industry.
The whole concept behind OnlyFans is ridiculous to me; it is basically a paywalled walled garden that allows nudity and porn. More Open Web friendly way would be to have a landing page for each person(user) where you could buy person's photos. And the only reason why OnlyFans exists is because Patreon was dabbling with an option to allow people to sell nudes and porn on their service. The dilemma behind Patreon's management was most likely "porn will hurt our reputation and anger the big two(Visa and Mastercard) so we won't allow it." Patreon could have spun-off their porn business into Patreon 18+ or whatever and have non-porn and porn business separated. Patreon banning nudity and porn was OnlyFans' golden ticket and they took it and bet their company on "we can try to get away with nudity and porn and hope the big two won't cut us off of their payment networks." And they won the bet and now they are earning billions from a mediocre software service thing called OnlyFans.
LLMs? Look at the most profitable site: Civital, where people congregate to make fake nudes and AI girlfriends.
Legitimately Overwatch 2 as an IP would make more profit as a porn studio than as a video game. It's actually absurd, rank #12 on this infographic https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/14jmn2h/oc...
OnlyFans models often make insane paychecks, millions of dollars annually, a friend of a friend makes 50-80k a year just on feet pics.
Kind of makes me regret turning down a recruiter for PornHub a decade ago.
