These people should be prosecuted in all one-party recording states.


Surely it's not actually possible for apps to listen in on audio 24/7? At least on iOS, you would be notified that this is happening? Or am I being naive?


I have the same question. Both Android and iOS have privacy indicators [1]. I'm still unclear as to whether the claim being made here is 1. that CMG active listening can bypass these indicators (concerning), or 2. that Google Home/Siri/Alexa recording data can be sold to 3rd parties.

On one hand I agree, but I think that everyone has some story where they saw ads for something they talked about with their phone around.


People tend to talk about things they're interested in, so this being a coincidence seems likely.


The article is rather vague, could it be just doing it while any apps owned by Meta are open? Instagram, Whatsapp, Facebook, etc?
