2 is disingenuous IMO. The olympics is an athletic competition. There are objective winners and losers. Breaking as an olympic sport is an athletic competition.

It's a totally different thing than breaking as creative expression. There's nothing wrong with being confidently goofy at a party, sure, but if breaking wants to remain a method of expression and nothing else, it shouldn't be in the olympics. Otherwise it's fair to be puzzled (and amused) that a subpar athlete reached that level of competition.
