This seems a bit harsh. Mathematicians tend to be mostly unambiguous when they write. This isn't even on the same planet as the empirical disciplines.

Mathematicians (with books in hand) tend to
have the ability to disambiguate
when confusion arises. But they rarely do, instead relying on context and the intelligence of the reader to derive meaning.
