Same here. This dooms VMS to legacy applications, and, unlike IBM mainframes, they don’t have the five nines.



And yet it has so many concepts which are still lacking in other systems. Well, here's to hoping that they can make enough of a living from their work to afford hobbyist licensing some time in the future again.


It’s true, but there I can’t come up with a good reason to build something new on VMS rather than Linux. I can come up with a lot of reasons to deploy Linux solutions on a z16.



As I understand it, what you get with this is a pre-installed VM image. Please correct me if I am wrong.


No, you get an ISO you can install on a hypervisor.


They ignored my application.


This is really awesome - it looks like it might work on Hyper-V now - the serial port was the biggest blocking issue to my knowledge.
