There's been very little that's given me hope for the future like seeing the FTC come back into it's own.
Government has so many nasty gnarly aspects to it, but nominally it should be watching out for the American people. And the FTC full well ought to be the tip of the spear at keeping some balance to what would otherwise be a Thomas Piketty-style extractive stratification by the rich.
It has been such a delight seeing the slumber of Reagan cast off, seeing the FTC active again.
In person interviews are rarely super deep, but it's interesting seeing people get to talk out what they are up to. The interview with Linda Khan at the Daily Show in April was nice to see. https://youtu.be/oaDTiWaYfcM
Hell yeah this awakening will ruffle some feathers. But my during my entire life it feels like the government has been utterly asleep at the wheel, in max (economic) liberalism overdrive mode. I don't think we can take this denigration much longer; restoring the world so that businesses aren't always leaving us feeling pillaged & blown about capriciously is an enormous phase shift we desperately need, which is integral to believing in some kind of social contract. And ideally the economy can do better if someone is out there defending competition.
