Electric bikepacking: lessons learned over four days and 250 miles (theverge.com)

I hadn't really considered how offering free ebike charging is a great way to drum up business for cafés and diners. Maybe even "validate" charging like parking with a purchase.

Why not stop for a meal or drink while your bike charges for 45 minutes? Doubley true if you are more rural/small town.

You cannot do wild camping in Holland?

You can probably camp on Piccadilly Circus if you have graffiti skills like mine. Policewagon or Garbagebin might work.

It's amazing that Europe has free E bike chargers. I've never seen one in the US. We barely have car chargers.

Free e-bike charger is a plug. I don't think there is a standard for e-bike charging bricks (but USB-C 240W might help), and the charger is in photos. I'm guessing that the paid ones have tap to pay or use app to unlock. They also seem to be rugged. It is impressive that they are all over.

It's not just a plug, but the willingness of the facility to give you a safe place to park your bike, lock it, and charge it. Even simple bike racks are often hard to find in the US, as are publicly-accessible outlets, much less the two together.

It's a cultural thing more than an infrastructure issue. We're heavily car-based and bikes are usually an afterthought.
