>>Cupertino had to remove the app from the App Store in Russia since the software did not "conform with all local laws."

Let me remind you that these are the same laws by which Russians are killing people in Ukraine right now

Yes. And to spell it out explicitly: this is yet another instance of a big company willingly complying with demands by a authoritarian regime.

> "Apple's actions, motivated by a desire to retain revenue from the Russian market, actively support an authoritarian regime," Red Shield said in a statement.

China I can understand since Apple's manufacturing is there. But is Russia really that big a market for Apple?

This is answer on question: Is Apple going to leave EU? No they can't even leave Russia.

They can't even be bothered to boycott jurisdictions that actually mandate government surveillance: https://support.apple.com/en-us/111754

That's how you know their security objections are all for show.

It will take a while for Apple to move its manufacturing out of China.

Considering China's systematic abuse of human rights, maybe it was a mistake doing business with China in the first place.

Sorta feels like Apple knew they were making the wrong choice.

How is it that Apple has no problem to follow Russian regulations, but are having a hissy fit to follow EU regulations?

I assume this is a rhetorical question?

Apple wants money. Putin wants power. They are good friends with mutual interests. What is your concern? Are you reading this thread from your iPhone?
