Hey HN,

A few weeks ago, I realized that I was sitting on over 3 billion entries of data breaches published on the Darknet due to my day job as an ethical hacker/red teamer.

So, I created DoHackersKnow.Me, a tool that lets you query those entries by email, phone number, or your name. This way, you can see yourself through the eyes of an attacker and understand what information is accessible about you.

The tool is written in TypeScript and uses Tailwind & DaisyUI for styling.

You are using a dark pattern. 1st you ask for email and you follow up witha $45 offer. Not ethical and certainly I feel now you are holding my info hostage. How do I ask to be deleted from your repository?

The highest offer is for lifetime unlimited access, which will include future updates such as individual reports and tips for you, your family, and friends to stay safer. I also needed to implement a barrier to prevent some 15 year old from blatantly looking up other people's information. A small payment barrier seems like a good first hurdle.

Regarding your information, it is public and can be found online. However, to protect yourself, there is a feature in progress that allows you to "Request entry removal," where you can delete an entry so it is blacklisted from being displayed as a search result. :)
