If you want to dress better as a guy without spending $500/hr., I highly recommend Ashley Weston's YouTube channel:

She's a celebrity menswear stylist:

I started watching her videos out of curiosity, and then was really surprised to realize that dressing well is a skill like any other. And that it's not about spending a lot of money, but mostly about learning to pick colors and types of clothing that work well together and work for your specific skin tone and body type, and that are appropriate for the season and setting.

Some of the videos can be a bit clickbaity ("10 things you should NEVER wear!"), but she has a lot of videos that just cover the basics that are really genuinely valuable -- she clearly really cares about trying to help guys dress better. It's a lot of advice that I really wish I'd had someone teach me growing up.

Dressing well is like 95% about being in shape and buying clothes that fit well. The cheaper the clothes the better, generally.

Being in shape is way less important than fit and style, though you can get away with looking blah much more easily if you're in shape.

A healthy, well-proportioned human form looks nice to most of us basically at a genetic level. The whole point of good fit is to further accentuate/bring out that form. Saying fit is way less important than shape makes no sense, they go completely hand-in-hand. And 'style' is completely subjective.

Not at all. Check out https://x.com/dieworkwear. He talks extensively about this.

I clicked the link, then clicked media, most if not all of the images were of people who were “in shape.” Heck, there were even pictures of people at the gym. Do I need to dig deeper?

He does feature some big and tall men in some of his threads. This guy for example: https://www.tiktok.com/@thespencermcqueen

It's all opinion I guess, but I'd say Jonnie Candito looks quite a bit better in a beer T-shirt and basketball shorts:

You clipped the second half of this quote, "and buying clothes that fit well". That does seem to be a big part of what dieworkwear guy talks about.

Being in shape means having better posture.

Having better posture means making better impressions.

Making better impressions is the whole purpose of dressing nice.

You don't have to be a macho with bulging biceps and a ripped six pack, but you can't be a fat couch potato made of blubber either.

You fell for the 'menswear' meme lol.

Not really. There is actually some art to putting together something that looks nice.

I’ll check it out.

Some bullet points from my career.

1] Get in shape, theres a reason why models exist and they can wear anything and make it look good

2] Wear clothes that fit/ get your clothes tailored

3] Clothes are costumes. if you want to fit in, wear what everyone else is wearing, if you want to stand out be bold

4] Be true to your self and your style will show through. Aesthetics emerge as a result of small choices that add up
