It's interesting. I understand the sentiment. Equally, it highlights the dilemma of wanting things to be very open, with no restrictions, but actually with an understanding that some ways of use are not appropriate.

It's like with democracy and autocratic populists. Part of the deal with democracy is that anyone can run, even people who want to dismantle the system. But that in turn is bad for the democracy too.




As somone pointed out on the Fedi, there’s a difference between appropriation and participation.

The main contention point was that Maven ingested a lot of content but didn’t attribute in any way or link to the original posts.
