This article is pretty content-free, but if you're interested in this field, I recommend reading RV Jones' book "Most Secret War". It was one of the first books to be written about work done in secret during WW2 and benefits from being a first-hand account.

I would agree and enjoyed reading the book, years ago.

If I remember correctly, good chapters on radar and radio navigation systems.

There was also details on the Me163 rocket plane which ran on the seemingly suicidal mix of concentrated hydrogen peroxide and hydrazine/methanol.

[edit] this was all long before we had the Wikipedia articles.


He was also the principal interviewee in the 1977 BBC Documentary series "The Secret War".

I find it contentful enough, but yeah, it doesn't get into the "how" of science and engineering at all.
