I don’t think percentages apply to such a small initial sample. It makes sense that the earliest installers would be ones with a direct connection to the developer or via a more personal engagement. You can’t extrapolate anything from 24 users.

I know a large amount of people who build extensions, including myself.

It’s just a really high percentage is all, which is atypical in my experience.

People really don’t want to leave reviews, they really have to go out of their way to do so.

But I can see your point of view. Also note that fake reviews plague the industry. I get about 10-20 emails a day from people wanting to “promote” my extension with “genuine” paid reviews.

I apologise I probably should have come at this a bit lighter, genuinely just curious how they got so many reviews.

(dev here)

Something I've done different for this extension that I haven't done in the past:

- had an email waitlist that got some interest for months leading up to the actual release

- engaged with potential users in community channels (reddit/discord(s)/etc) to get early feedback and keep them in the loop

- have buttons in the profile dropdown menu within the extension for "Provide feedback" and "Leave a review"

All of these have made a big different, in general, to the overall process. I started doing this months before the extension was published.

Happy to answer any questions.
