At the risk of demonstrating my ignorance, I never really knew about the National Gallery until last year and visited it on a whim (I happened to be at a restaurant near by and was looking for something to do). I was thoroughly impressed and it has jumped to one of my favorite museums in DC. The level of care discussed in this article is evident throughout the exhibition.
