Show HN: Syntax highlighting tool for code snippets in HTML (vojtechrichter.com)
2 points by vojtech_richter 26 days ago | hide | past | favorite | 8 comments
Hey! My name is Vojtěch.

When I'm sharing code on my blog or elsewhere, I find it really annoying to format and highlight all the words in the code snippet. That's why I made CodeGlow, to make sharing sharing code easy and painless.

I don't understand what is sold here. Is it an API? A downloadable widget? A command-line tool? What does access mean and how can access be denied later?

Please submit again when it's ready to be tested. "sign-up pages,[...] Those can't be tried out, so can't be Show HNs." https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html

Hey, thanks for you feedback, I really appreciate it, I'm just getting started in the software business, so I'm grateful for anything I can learn from:)

Also, off topic, you're working on your bootstrapped SaaS? May I know what it is? Would love to check it out, and perhaps learn a thing or two.

There are many open source projects available that do this sort of thing. Many are built into blog tools

Shiki, highlight.js, Chroma to name a few libraries

Makes a lot of sense, should've made more research.

Appreciate the feedback a lot!

I'm sure it is still a good learning experience. I cannot imagine the pain you felt doing the html by hand!

I learned a lot by working on a universal formatting setup.

It certainly was. I just wanted to solve one of my little problems :D.

Hof looks real cool

thanks, it was originally just code gen to solve one of my problems, but quickly expanded when I started getting user feedback and/or embraced CUE
