US university lecturer behind far-right Twitter account and publishing house (theguardian.com)

A former lecturer - in English, teaching composition - from a university that has (per Wikipedia) about 5,600 academic staff.

Yes, it sounds like the guy is pretty odious...but WTF is the Guardian obsessed with tying him to UCI? Are they advocating regular FBI background checks on all low-level UCI instructional staff, or what? This seems to be the worst dirt that they can find about his behavior at UCI:

> Keeperman was also involved in labor activism as a member of UCI’s American Federation of Teachers chapter, and spoke at several conferences about labor conditions for lecturers, who are not tenured.

I can't keep up. Is "doxxing" bad today, or not?

It's bad when it's against marginalized people, and good when it's against hateful bigots. The old "punch up, not down". hth

I think the journalists are punching down. they have far more institutional power than some twitter shit poster.

It's neither up nor down. Journalists are paid to punch. Period. That's their reason for existing. The fourth estate is supposed to keep us informed.

Journalists are mouthpieces for their owners. They only punch one direction.

Sadly you're right in an increasing number of cases. There are standout smaller outlets which are still upholding their duties, but for the most part billionaire owned media does the bidding of the money.

A lot of it is our fault. We continue to support the billionaire class, without worrying about the consequences. Mostly out of fear I guess.

It's bad when your enemies do it and good when your allies do it.
