The U.S. should be suspicious of any foreign companies in Wyoming because there's nothing valuable there. Its in 50th place for GDP. It's mostly empty except for those missile sites and some coal mining.

Wow, who let that get built in the first place? Hmmm, of all the places to put a server.

The site is located approximately a 250 metre walk from both Microsoft's CYS data centre campus and the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center[1] and not too much further from electricity substations that at least partially supply Francis E. Warren Air Force Base. There are many houses adjoining Francis E. Warren Air Force Base (which is some significant distance away) that would seemingly provide a better location for any sort of eavesdropping/electronic warfare attack (or whatever concern may arise) against Francis E. Warren Air Force Base. Dozens of ICBM missile silos and related facilities are mapped out in detail mostly to the NE of Francis E. Warren Air Force Base but again don't seem to be at any particular risk of the site identified, particularly as they're underground facilities.[3][4]

The NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center is open M-F 0900-1700 for walk in visitors to the visitor centre, as well as pre-arranged school tours of data centre halls.[2] It would appear unlikely then this facility is deemed to be at risk if they're comfortable with random visitors touring the facility.

Microsoft's CYS data centre campus would appear to be the facility most impacted, and assumedly it's fairly critical for the US government to get the president involved. Or as a secondary guess, this site is possibly a concern to nearby power and/or fibre infrastructure that for some odd reason is critical to operation of Francis E. Warren Air Force Base or nearby ICBM sites. As a tertiary guess, this MineOne facility is potentially seen as a cover for Chinese nationals to visit and be present in a US city that is particularly sensitive.

Docent-led tours of the computing rooms and facility are available for those in 9th grade and older and can be booked in advance by scheduling a tour." https://www.cisl.ucar.edu/ncar-wyoming-supercomputing-center
