I’m not against advertising necessarily, but the members of these groups have near-unreadable websites that are far more ads than content. If you don’t want users blocking ads, don’t normalize bombarding them with ads until they have no choice but to block them.
The virtues of having independent for-profit journalism are repeated often. I wonder what a world without it would look like. Poorly researched influencer pushed info? More ideological bubbles? Would that be a net loss? I don't know. With the utter embarrassment that mainstream reporting of the pro-Palestine anti-genocide protests has been, one could argue they already do more harm than good, but that is probably an overly broad assumption.
