This will further contribute to the already profound difference in quality of life between the red and blue states. But because this and the other confounding issues are emotional ones, the affected populaces will not vote to change anything, and will instead choose to watch their lives deteriorate even further.

I’m not very sympathetic to their situation, but I am concerned with the effects of their growing resentment of their neighboring, less decayed states.

This will probably just mean that these states receive the "lesser residents" rather than no residents. And from TFA:

> The AAMC analysis notes that even in states with abortion bans, residency programs are filling their positions — mostly because there are more graduating medical students in the U.S. and abroad than there are residency slots.

But these residents don't stay put, they will also become urban and blue state doctors, so the impact of the more restricted / less holistic / non-evidence-based practice training they will receive will not be confined to red states. Care quality will decrease everywhere but moreso in places that are attracting the leftover labor.

Outside of Texas and Florida - none of these states are particularly desirable for high income educated people: https://states.guttmacher.org/policies/

If you control for that, is there really much to talk about?

You are correct. And eventually Florida and Texas will also become less desirable to those not already wealthy.

This is how things are supposed to work out. Less people select to go to the states where government is harming them. Sucks that many people (especially people with low means) have to suffer u til the change eventually happens.

Interesting and makes sense. This is a pretty standard procedure now so if you want experience and training in it you want to go to where the cases are legal and common.
