Legal challenge to Amazon UK's new "one-click to quit the union" tool (foxglove.org.uk)

> If a worker scans the QR code and clicks the link, Amazon’s software automatically generates a letter from the worker and then emails it to the trade union, ending their membership.

Without worker consent? Then the notice is invalid. Surely this is detected when rhe union requests verification.

I cannot see how this trick could succeed, so I suspect misreporting.

That's how the news is reported, although it isn't clear to me whether the email is auto sent or it at least requires a minimal interaction such as pressing send to a pre compiled text. Regarding legality, that's exactly what is being challenged by the union

The report is 100% clear. It says the emailing is done by the Amazon software.

> Regarding legality

I wasn't addressing the legality. I was addressing the validity, which is an entirely independent question.

> that's exactly what is being challenged by the union

No. This organisation is not a union.

It looks like leaving a union is as simple as scanning a qr code, but joining it still requires compiling a form online

Why you should not use Amazon.

Unions have no power anyway. Their stock line is “Well when management band together there’s nothing we can do” thanks for paying your fees though. Remember your fees are due at the end of the month. Carry on.

Amazon unions, or unions in general? Because the latter is demonstrably false.
