Long story short, I founded a startup with a friend of mine two years ago to build software to assist pharmaceutical scientists with certain tasks. We're having a very hard time monetizing our software to a venture-backable scale, but the software certainly has utility for our end users. We recently discussed the possibility of restructuring our startup into a non-profit with the intent to fundraise enough to continue to maintain the tool while we seek full-time employment elsewhere.
Has anyone else similarly restructured their startup into a non-profit? I know I'm downplaying the legal and governance hoops we'll have to jump through for this, but I'm curious to hear your stories or advice.
