This is one of the most obvious headlines I think I’ve read.

As far as the profits of these companies, we shouldn’t keep a population unhealthy and overweight in the name of increasing profits.


This is not an obvious or trivial headline. Not all weight-loss drugs lead to reduced appetite/consumption.

For example, orlistat blocks the action of lipase during digestion, which prevents the body from digesting as much of the fat in a meal[1].

Ones that don’t lead to a reduction in consumption generally aren’t used by anyone for very long. People tend not to like the side effects.

Weight loss, be it naturally done or with the aid of a drug, should come with a reduction in consumption. All that food has to go somewhere, if the body doesn’t process it, it has to come out one way or another.


NO kidding. of course, ppl on an eating suppressing drug will spend less on food. but companies are not worried and have adapted by raising prices more than usual or cutting back portion sizes
