Here in the US there has been the problem of endangered sea lions eating endangered salmon below the Bonneville Dam. The salmon are easy pickings for the sea lions because they tend to collect below the dam as the migrate upriver to spawn.

Sifakas are among my favorite lemurs (which is not to say that they’re not all my favorite lemurs). It is so adapted to arboreal life that on the ground, it moves by hopping sideways. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verreaux%27s_sifaka for an animated gif showing this.

I had never heard of fosa, so I looked them up. It turns out it is usually spelled fossa, and as well as lemurs they also eat tenrecs.

People often go into academia for the wrong reasons, and many universities have adapted to cater to new priorities.

Often science takes on an orthogonal role to the politics, marketing, and irrational competition.
