I am very much in the market for a Google Photos replacement. The ads (nudging?) in the Android app are too much and I find the sharing options inadequate.
Most of the apps I found didn't have an Android app, this one does though, neat! All I want to do is tag/organize the pictures my wife and I take on our phones, and sync some of those tags (/folders/albums) with each other.
I'm just reposting this here because I was looking for an iCloud / Google Photos replacement for a long time. Apparently, it's a Docker with PostgreSQL inside (so should be very durable) and you can put it on your own NAS and it has iOS and Android apps ready. Search includes private cloud-free face recognition and CLIP vectors, meaning it's state of the art.
I've been playing around with Immich the last few days, and I really like it but I think it's important to stress this warning -> 'The project is under very active development. Expect bugs and changes. Do not use it as the only way to store your photos and videos!'.

The linked comparison table is also very helpful: https://meichthys.github.io/foss_photo_libraries/
