If you're interested in tacit (implicit) knowledge: Polyani is too narrow (but read "for culture"), Nonaka/Takeuchi is, too (but good if you're more interested in knowledge management per se).

My recommendation: Collins' "Tacit and Explicit Knowledge" is a great and thought-provoking exercise in theory-building. The Collins book recommended in the article is more about expertise and much less theory-laden.

It includes a very interesting discussion of eight different meanings of "cannot", from logical impossibility as the strongest form down to contingency as the weakest form.
