JetBrains deprecates Rust plugin for their IDEs to push people to buy RustRover (jetbrains.com)

I get the annoyance from many folk about this rug pull.

However from what I can gather It will be part of the All Products pack[1]. So comments like the following do seem to be incorrect:

“ I've faithfully paid for subscription for All Product Pack. And now I won't be able to use Rust in projects that revolve around other platform?”

Their C compiler is also paid, but you can have it for free if you maintain an open-source project (in C, I assume).


Is there any benefit of using a JetBrains IDE for Rust over any other editor with rust-analyzer?

Their IDEs were always slow for me, even on good hardware.


Very good code indexing, good refactoring tools, impressive debugger and overall better developer experience (IMHO)
