European governments are making substantial revenues by fining American companies. Why innovate when you can regulate?

American companies are always free to leave, if they don't want to be regulated.

Yeah, we'd also need more innovation here, but regulation is not a bad thing no matter what libertarians say.

The problem is that this is speedily turning into a moat-building process pushed by incumbent large software companies here in Europe. The laws they push are hampering both smaller software outfits and even open source.
