Ask HN: Anyone having small PHP or node JavaScript project looking to outsource?

Hi HN!

I lost my job last month and I have a loan to pay. I am giving interviews but luck seems to be not in my favour. I am seeking a freelance work if anyone here has a small project to outsource. I would be thankful.

Updated past work. See in comment.

I'm sorry to hear that! This post is very short; you might increase your chances for success by making it easier/safer for folks to bring you on. If you have any portfolio or project history that would be good, as would any specializations that might help (php and js are broad places - do you want to do server side stuff? React? Are you particularly good with laraval?).

Alternatively/additionally maybe you could pitch niche projects you think you would be great at because of past experience (update code to new versions/libs, add a contact form to existing homepages, move things to cheaper hosting, integrate an internal system with someone's existing crm, automate marketing emails based on customer activity, etc).

Outsourcing is risky - help derisk it for potential customers by making them feel like you can deliver, you're trustworthy, you're competent, and you understand their needs.

I believe in you and I hope you get so much contract work you never have to get another fulltime job.

Thank you so much for your kind words.

Here’s the project I have worked on (full-time):

1. Steelonclick (www.steelonclick.in) (a website that sells construction related steel products online. Backend on Core PHP.)

2. HireACamp (www.hireacamp.com) (developed backed on Node/Express JS) (platform to book camps in India)

3. ShakyaCreations (www.shakyacreations.com) (wordpress/woocommerce - client started selling bangles in just 20 minutes)

4. DPMPAY (www.dpmpay.in) (school management software written in CodeIgniter 3)

These are projects that I worked full time in 7 years.

1. Helped SteelOnClick launch their QR-based system and dedicated portal for affiliate marketers, primarily retail shops. This initiative enabled shops to earn extra income ranging from 2.5k to 7k INR. Additionally, it facilitated construction supervisors in efficiently connecting with local retail shops, acting as both a visiting card and an affiliate system.

2. Worked with DPMPay in customizing school fees according to each school's requirements without the need for developer intervention. Previously, developers were required to make such changes.

3. Rewrote HireACamp's backend from scratch using Express JS. This overhaul facilitated quick bookings during peak seasons such as Christmas, New Year celebrations, and summer vacations. Furthermore, it introduced a load balancer architecture through AWS. Previously, their core PHP backend would become unresponsive when tested by more than 5000 users. The new backend and load balancer architecture efficiently enabled horizontal scaling.

I am good in core php, codeigniter, node and express js, scraping web, frontend (html/css/bootstrap|svelte|vue), db: mongodb, mysql
