Turboed engines are increasingly common in economy vehicles. These are usually rated for regular unleaded but many people use premium because it’s better for the turbo over the long rub (and manufacturers don’t recommend based on the long run). Ford’s ecoboost line of egnines, for example. I see no reason to believe that mid grade isnt a middle ground here.
