Ask HN: Curious if I should keep working on an open-source perplexity?
5 points by mrbishalsaha 6 months ago | hide | past | favorite | 6 comments
Hey guys, I just wanted to ask for some help

I started building the open-source version of perplexity and have made huge progress but I am just curious if anyone even wants it?

Aravind had some background to raise money and create hype. I can't do it even if my tech is open-source or maybe even better.

What should I do? Do i still do it or just leave it.

Do leave a comment if you even care.

Well... what will happen if you don't do it? 10 years from now, where are you going to be, what are you going to be doing?

And what will happen if you do it? 10 years from now, who are you?

30 years from now, looking back, what advice would you give you at this point?

:)

Good luck! :)

Hey man, I don't know if you will see it but I did keep working on it and will launch in a few weeks. Here is a demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw-KCdDeYxA

Just do it I guess

Sounds like you're hesitating. Or something's holding you back?

I am not a big guy like Aravind. Not from IITs, Harvards or MIT...

No pedigree, got rejected from YC 8 times, none of the VCs will invest even if I can build it. I am just a failure.
